1. What is the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP)?

The IBDP is a two-year educational program for students aged 16–19 that prepares them for university and life beyond. It emphasizes academic excellence, critical thinking, and international-mindedness.

2. What is the difference between HL and SL?
  • HL (Higher Level): In-depth study; 240 teaching hours; more assessments.
  • SL (Standard Level): Broader overview; 150 teaching hours. Students must take 3 HL and 3 SL subjects (or 4 HL and 2 SL in rare cases).
3. How is the IBDP scored?
  • Each subject is graded from 1 to 7.
  • TOK and EE can earn up to 3 additional points.
  • Total possible score = 45 points.
4. What is the passing score for the IB Diploma?
  • Minimum 24 points
  • Completion of all CAS requirements
  • No failing conditions (e.g., failing TOK/EE, scoring below 12 in HLs)
5. What is the Extended Essay (EE)?

A 4,000-word independent research paper on a topic of your choice, guided by a supervisor. It develops research and academic writing skills.

4. Can I drop out of the IB Diploma and still get a certificate?

Yes. If you don't meet diploma requirements, you'll receive subject certificates for individual IB courses completed.
